Writing Sample Links to the Right:
Excerpts from her upcoming memoir about life in Brazil* and other things that have gone wrong (indicated with an *).

Excerpt from her
first novel
Wounds of the Past.  This story takes place in a small New England city and centers around Matilda Dante, a young woman eager to move on with her life. Yet, hazy childhood memories - the most haunting of which are recollections of the miraculous appearances of crosses on her wrists - hold her back.  Matti's stigmata, along with the tragic and bizarre death of her mother, were all chronicled in the local newspapers but get her no closer to discovering the truth about disturbing family secrets: child abuse, questions of infidelity and hidden genetic traits. Will it take a life-long interweaving of an unethical psychiatrist, a gilded talisman and Matti's cancer-surviving boyfriend to unearth the wounds of the past and make way for a promising future?

An excerpt from her
second novel: Conviction, a compelling story about whether a loving, ordinary married couple's relationship can withstand extraordinary, horrific allegations.

A Children's Story:
Pixie and her Purple Pup.

Benny and Gino...May You rest in Peace
: Written a while ago for some random dog magazine competition. The good news about not not winning is that I am still allowed to post this piece of writing wherever I want.

National Audubon Society:
Journal Articles. About 100 years ago, I had the pleasure of working for the National Audubon Society in NYC. I can't say (or write) enough about what a tremendous experience that was. While I was there, I had the opportunity to write a couple of articles for their Journal. I figured I would post them here as well because, hey, there are writing samples, after all! I also had the chance to interview - and write an article about - Majora Carter when she was awarded the MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant. Cool lady.
Stay tuned
There are some things in the mix but - to be completely and totally honest - I have no idea whether I will have the diligence it takes to bring them to fruition. So far:

I'm bouncing around ideas for a thriller genre book but can't seem to get that off the ground.

I've begun a project that I have no idea where it's going: collecting pieces of advice from people in my life - and possibly random strangers.
